Lookup Sullivan County Arrest Records

An arrest in Sullivan County leaves records with several public offices, not one local booking portal. To look up Sullivan County arrest records, begin with the state police for the incident, ask the Sheriff where custody was placed, and use the courts once charges are filed. Booking data belongs to a contracted receiving jail because the county has no jail of its own. A Sullivan County arrest search may also call for a repository response or a focused public-record request. Each source answers a different question, and none turns an allegation into proof of guilt.

Arrest Records in Sullivan County

The Pennsylvania State Police Laporte station is the county's main patrol and investigative agency. Sullivan County planning sources identify no municipal police department. PSP Laporte is at 5837 Route 220, P.O. Box 70, Laporte, PA 18626, and its public number is 570-946-4610. The Sullivan County Sheriff is not described as a general patrol force. Its published duties center on warrants, court security, prisoner transport and housing, PFAs, mental-health warrants, and help for other agencies.

One Sullivan County arrest creates four linked files. PSP creates an incident or arrest report. A contracted jail creates the booking and custody entry. MDJ 44-3-03 records preliminary arraignment, bail, warrants, and the preliminary hearing. If charges are held for court, the Clerk of Courts maintains the Common Pleas prosecution. Fingerprint, charge, and disposition data may also reach the PSP Central Repository.

Sullivan County Has No Jail

Sullivan County does not operate a conventional county jail or publish a county inmate roster. The Sheriff's duty to contract, coordinate, and carry out prisoner housing and transport is therefore central to any recent arrest lookup. Call the Sheriff at 570-946-7361 to learn which receiving jail is holding a person. Do not assume an older host arrangement is current. Once the host is confirmed, use that facility's official phone, roster, visitation, and release rules.

Sullivan County Arrest Lookups

No single search covers the incident, custody, court, and statewide history layers. Start with the channel closest to the event. Keep the incident or CAD number, arrest date, location, and correct spelling ready. A public release may identify the event, while a focused request can seek releasable report material. Active investigations, victim data, juvenile information, safety details, and personal identifiers may be withheld or redacted.

  1. Check PSP public releases or call PSP Laporte at 570-946-4610 for the incident agency and report number.
  2. Call the Sullivan County Sheriff at 570-946-7361 to identify the current contracted host jail, then contact that facility for custody and booking data.
  3. Register for free phone, text, email, or app alerts through PA SAVIN after the host or custody record is found.
  4. Search UJS Case Search by participant, docket, OTN, or police incident or complaint number once charges are filed.
  5. Submit a focused PSP Right-to-Know request for releasable incident material, or a county RTKL request for appropriate Sheriff administrative records.
  6. Use PATCH for a repository-level response or mail Access and Review form SP 4-170 when reviewing your own complete Pennsylvania record.

The PSP request service describes the official incident-record route.

A narrow request tied to a known event is more useful than asking PSP to answer a broad question about someone.

Four Sullivan County Arrest Records

The incident report explains what police were called to investigate and the basis for the arrest. The host-jail booking entry documents intake, custody, charge and bail data, and release or transfer. The MDJ docket tracks the first court appearance and preliminary steps. Common Pleas records show the filed prosecution after bind-over. These records can share an OTN, complaint number, incident number, or docket reference, but their contents and custodians remain distinct.

Arrest Records: What They Contain

A releasable Sullivan County arrest file may include identifiers that connect the police event to booking and court records. Public content varies by custodian and by the status of the investigation. Sensitive medical, suicide-watch, housing-unit, victim, juvenile, or security information should not be assumed public. The contracted host jail sets its own booking fields and release practices.

Sullivan County Custody Search Limits

PA SAVIN can send custody and release notifications across county jails, state prisons, and parole. It is an alert service, not the original booking file. The PA DOC Inmate/Parolee Locator is updated daily and can show a state inmate or parolee by last name or inmate number. It does not cover county facilities, contracted pretrial custody outside the state system, or federal detention.

The official PA DOC locator shows the state-custody search interface.

Use it only after the custody type points to a Pennsylvania state sentence or parole record.

For a fresh Sullivan County arrest, the sequence is Sheriff, confirmed host jail, and PA SAVIN. UJS can show bail and court events but is not a live roster. Federal custody belongs in the BOP locator. If no online tool answers the question, call PSP Laporte, the Sheriff, and then the confirmed receiving jail.

Recent Sullivan County Bookings

Sullivan County publishes no daily arrest log, booking log, mugshot feed, or current-arrest portal. PSP's Public Information Release Report subscription is the official blotter substitute. Readers can subscribe by station for public incident and safety releases, but a release feed is not a full arrest ledger. Its silence does not prove that no arrest occurred.

The booking process normally moves through arrest and transport, intake identity and property, fingerprinting, charge verification, health and security screening, preliminary arraignment and bail, classification, court transport, and release or transfer. In Sullivan County, the host jail performs intake after transport. MDJ 44-3-03 owns the preliminary judicial record. The Sheriff coordinates the path between them.

Sullivan County Arrest Report Requests

PSP accepts its Right-to-Know requests by mail, email, fax, or in person. Identify the incident date and place, station, CAD or case number, and the exact item sought. PSP Investigative Records can be reached at 717-705-9312. The PSP RTKL/Subpoena Unit is at 717-214-2491 or 877-785-7771. An active investigation or protected safety, juvenile, victim, or identifier content can lead to redaction or denial.

Sullivan County's Open Records Office handles records the county maintains. It requires the fillable request form with the first submission and accepts it by mail or email. The office is at 245 Muncy Street, P.O. Box 157, Laporte, and its phone is 570-946-7331. Criminal court cases do not go there. Send those to MDJ 44-3-03 or the Clerk, and send PSP-created incident reports to PSP.

The county Right-to-Know page sets out the local routing and form rule.

Its exclusions help prevent an arrest requester from sending a court or PSP file request to the wrong custodian.

PSP Reports Beyond Arrest Records

An incident report can document an event even if no arrest occurs. A crash report follows another route entirely and is not requested under RTKL. The official PSP crash-report portal searches by CAD or case number, or by last name with incident date. PSP says to allow at least 15 days after the incident. Eligible requesters complete contact and reason fields after finding the report.

The separate portal shows why the record type must be identified before choosing a Pennsylvania State Police request path.

The crash report fee is $22. PSP says an approval or denial usually arrives within seven business days, followed by a payment link and a separate report email. Mail requests go to the PSP Crash Reports Unit, 1800 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110. This route applies to crash records, not a general Sullivan County arrest history.

Arrest Records vs Conviction Records

An arrest record begins with police and custody. A conviction record results from a plea or verdict entered by a court. The alleged charge may be changed, withdrawn, dismissed, or replaced by the District Attorney's filed information. For the judicial outcome, read the Sullivan County docket charge by charge. The Sullivan County court case lookup explains how those later entries and sentence fields appear.

Arrest RecordConviction Record
Created by police and the receiving jailCreated through the court case and reported to PSP
Shows an allegation, arrest, and possible bookingShows a guilty plea or verdict and its judgment
Lives with PSP, the host jail, or another arresting agencyLives with the court clerk and may appear in the PSP repository
May end in release, no filing, withdrawal, dismissal, or acquittalMay lead to sentence, appeal, pardon, expungement, or limited access

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and every allegation must be checked against the court's final disposition.

When Sullivan County Arrests Persist

An ordinary PATCH request costs $22 and compares submitted identity data with the PSP Central Repository. It is narrower than a person's own Access and Review record. A possible match can return “Request Under Review” while PSP resolves the identity; that status is not a finding. PATCH also does not replace the UJS docket or the original police report.

For one's own complete Pennsylvania history, mail Access and Review form SP 4-170 with the $20 fee and required identity material. It includes conviction and non-conviction entries and is the sound starting point for a correction or expungement review. If a disposition is missing, get a certified court record from the correct Sullivan County clerk and follow PSP's challenge process. If the court docket itself is wrong, ask that court custodian to correct its record.

Juvenile arrests are generally confidential. Expunged, sealed, and limited-access matters also leave ordinary remote public results under Pennsylvania law. Their absence from an online Sullivan County arrest search does not show whether an authorized agency retains access.
