Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information that may be handled when someone visits Sullivan County Criminal History, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. Continued use of the website indicates acceptance of these practices. Outside search providers follow their own policies when a visitor chooses to use their tools.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Sullivan County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If a visitor emails us, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Web servers may receive routine technical details as pages load.

  • The device's Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name, version, device type, and operating system
  • Pages opened and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • Date and time information for page requests

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. They can help measure traffic, page use, and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine that usage into reports. A browser can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical data is used only for operating and improving the service.

  • Delivering pages and maintaining site performance
  • Passing voluntary searches to the selected outside provider
  • Measuring which material is useful
  • Finding errors, abuse, and technical faults
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Sullivan County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It publishes directions to records held by Pennsylvania State Police, Sullivan County courts and offices, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, and the Pennsylvania Megan's Law Website. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the optional search boxes. Their privacy terms govern information entered into those tools, including how long data is kept and when it is disclosed. We do not direct those practices. Read the provider's policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Pennsylvania agencies, Sullivan County offices, court portals, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's policy controls the visit. Review it before sending personal data.

Advertising providers may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites. That processing occurs on their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to the parties needed to operate the service.

  • A search partner handling a query the visitor chose to run
  • Analytics companies measuring traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks placing ads
  • A public authority acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No Internet system can guarantee absolute security, so a breach or loss can never be ruled out completely.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. If information from a person under 18 is identified, it may be removed after a valid request.

Your Data Rights

Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101-67.3104, and the criminal-history dissemination rules in 18 Pa.C.S. § 9121 govern public-agency records and criminal-history access. They do not automatically create the same rights against a private website. Subject to applicable law and verification, a visitor may still ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data held about them
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete personal data where retention is not required
  • Object to or limit certain processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as services or legal duties change. A replacement version becomes effective when posted here, and its date will be updated so visitors can identify the current terms.
